Wilderness Engineers Weekend

You could not have asked for a more perfect weekend to spend time at Beaumont Scout Reservation than May 3-5, 2013.  80+ volunteers contributed their time and talents to getting Beaumont ready for another summer of Scout camping.  Projects ranged from masonry work to tree and limb removal, painting, carpentry, and mowing.  A 1,200 acre camp like Beaumont Scout Reservation takes a lot of work to stay in working order, but working order is just not good enough.  Thanks to all who came out to camp!!

So if you missed the opportunity to come out in May, no worries.  Mark your calendar NOW for October 4-6, 2013.  Take this chance to make Wilderness Engineers Weekend a part of your unit's or company's annual volunteer schedule.

Cub Scout Recruitment

Each district will be having it's orientation to introduce the 2013 School Night to join Scouting campaign in August. If your pack has not received its information, contact your district School Night for Scouting chair, district executive, or the Council Service Center.

There is additional support material available to make your fall school night fun, exciting, and successful.

  •      A fun district orientation:  This orientation will inform you on this year's strategy.

  •      Recruitment fliers & posters: Available to units with your pack's information on time, date, and location to sign up.

  •      "Join Cub Scouting" Yard Signs: Each pack will receive one yard sign to display in an area that will get the word out to join Cub Scouts. Locations should include your lawn, school lawns, local store fronts, or places of worship.

  •      Stickers: During the school visit, each potential Scout will be given a reminder sticker informing the parent or guardian of the meeting date and time.

  •      www.joincubscouting.org: This is a great interactive Web site that new parents and new youth can log onto to learn more about Cub Scout activities and the family values Cub Scouting has to offer.
